In Chicago for a national wind energy conference, Gov. Jim Doyle pointed to the experience of Wisconsin Rapids as an example of how wind energy is creating jobs in this recession.

Duke Energy Chooses Xtreme Power to Supply Energy Storage System for Wind Farm

Duke Energy, a Charlotte, N.C. headquartered company, has declared its plans to store the power produced at its west Texas located Notrees Windpower Project in the Dynamic Power Resource system developed by Xtreme Power, an Austin-based company.
Earlier in November 2009, the company had foretold its plans to make an investment of 22 million received from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to erect a battery storage facility and to store the power generated from its 153 MW Notrees wind farm in Ector and Winkler counties.

If recent Atlantic storms had been fully harnessed, each kilometre of the western seaboard could have generated about €350,000 worth of wave power.
That calculation was made by the Marine Renewables Industry Association umbrella organisation for Irish and international ocean energy companies and interests.
Its spokesman Peter Coyle values each 18m wave which hit the west coast early this month at €2,000 in energy value, based on it being a kilometre wide.
Some 150 such waves in any given hour of storm could feed an ocean energy device with 25 per cent efficiency in terms of captured power.
